![]() | OPENED: ?, PHOTO: 10 June 2007, ORIGINAL VISIT: 04 February 2000 Chapel Hill, the third vector of the well-known RTP (Research Triangle Park) region of North Carolina. There's a great breakfast place just down the block from the Starbucks. Ye Olde Waffle Shop, it's called, and they serve great biscuits. Wouldn't mind landing a contract here because it's, of course, another college town. And you know how I love college towns. |

![]() | OPENED: ?, PHOTO: 04 February 2000 Just one location--for now--in the city of Durham, home to Duke University and the Blue Devils. Not sure why I mentioned that. I don't really like football. In fact, I'd rather watch this ice and snow melt. |

Cameron Village - HT, Raleigh
![]() | OPENED: ?, PHOTO: 25 August 1999 Unlike the two Harris-Teeters stores down in Charlotte, this Starbucks actually has a substantial storefront of its own, and not a bad-looking one at that. But despite appearances, it does not have a second floor--just a very tall ceiling, though the ample natural lighting adds a nice touch to the experience. |

![]() | OPENED: ?, PHOTO: 10 June 2007, ORIGINAL VISIT: 25 August 1999 By the time I reached this store, I realize I had spent too much time back in Charlotte, because the light was fading quickly with Greensboro yet to come. I think with a different angle and some better lighting, this could actually make for an interesting photograph, which is unusual for stores in strip centers. |
Pleasant Valley Promenade, Raleigh
![]() | OPENED: ?, PHOTO: 25 August 1999 This was the first North Carolina store I visited, back in late '98, and the first one that I can remember having a sign in a bright color (other than the usual white, gray, and green). In retrospect, I should have attempted to take the shot from atop the tree. Oh, well, there's always next time. |
Stonehenge, Raleigh | ||
![]() | OPENED: ?, PHOTO: 25 August 1999 I was disappointed to discover that the architecture of this store did not match its namesake, but the shopping center is not displeasing by any means. The store itself is cozy with a fireplace, and the barista on duty was very helpful with his knowledge of the other Starbucks in the area, including those in Chapel Hill and Greensboro. |
