Building it in the very cool Old Town Alexandria (worth visiting in and of itself) and inside a very old and historic building, Starbucks was wise to preserve the stone construction and the rustic wooden ceiling. The photographs of Alexandria's King Street in an earlier day are a great touch. I supposed it's appropriate that this is the 100th store in Virginia, since there are 100 pennies in a dollar, which bears the face of George Washington, who was a friend of John Fitzgerland who owned this building. |

I've never seen such a sign at any other Starbucks. Besides that, it was at this location where I first saw the new style of outside tables and chairs that have since been rolled out around the country. And new artwork took, albeit corporate. |

More can be found up in Canada and over in London. One odd thing about this store is that the building and decor look new, but the steel and concrete staircase looks old. |
