Starbucks in New Jersey

PLEASE NOTE
The stores pictured below are labeled with information that comes directly from the official Starbucks web site. The only alterations I have made are to remove certain punctuation marks. Please do not report any errors in the names or spellings of streets or cities to me, but rather to Starbucks. Once they fix the error on their end, my database will pick it up. I will fill missing photograph dates as I have time, and I will continue to try and obtain store opening dates.

Of the stores that I visited in the general vicinity, I liked this one the best. It has a little more atmosphere, I think. Brick walls and columns always add atmosphere. One unusual element was a diferent style of chair. Its seat cushion was very think, almost cube-like.

The staff of this store must be bridge-happy, for the walls are covered with images of the nearby George Washington Bridge. The photograph from 1932 is a great historical touch, as is the poster of the old Palisades Amusement Park. But perhaps the most the drawing of the G.W. Bridge, in colored chalk, on the Coffee of the Day sign. I hope they photograph that drawing before it is eventually erased.

This is a most excellent store! Admire the marvelous exterior, then go inside and try to find a spot inside the turret, a cozy little room if I do say so myself. The building used to be a gas station, and when I visited the manager was still trying to find out what is was prior to that.

Notice the big wooden Starbucks sign out front--this is only the second such sign I've seen.

Oh, and let me not forget to mention that Glen Rock is a community where the kids feel comfortable leaving their bicycles unlocked out front. Would that the rest of the world were like that.

The interior of this store is very long, but also very narrow. So narrow, in fact, that I had to turn to the side and squeeze my way to the washroom past the customers at the register. I pity the patrons who choose to sit at the tables next to the register--they get no privacy, and often closer look at the other customers than they would prefer.

The explanation is that the structure was built for a prior business, but nevertheless it is still unusual that one has to enter a glass enclosure and then go through another door on the right before actually entering the store.

But more interesting is the photo album on the counter depicting the staff in all sorts of jovial poses, including one barista using the dishwashing sink in a very unconventional manner.

Licensed Stores (not operated by Starbucks)

PLEASE NOTE
The list below is not meant to be a complete list of licensed stores. Some licensed stores are not listed on the Starbucks web site, and some of the stores listed below might have closed. That's not really important. I only keep track of them so I know which ones I don't need to visit. But if you know for certain that any of these are actually operated by Starbucks, please let me know (and send me a phone # so I can double-confirm).
